What to Expect
Your life story, your experiences – positive and negative, and your relationships are profoundly influential.
Listening to your story, challenges, and or changes you desire to make help to begin the process. Using an alternative and holistic approach either in my Towson office or virtually we will explore relevant areas in your life to assess what is working well and what may not be. Gaining awareness in how your thoughts, emotions and behaviors are interacting can begin to uncover unresolved inner conflicts. Those conflicts, often unconscious, interfere with the ability to live in the present and can create stress and suffering.
Taking the time to understand any dis-ease in your current life and identifying parts of you that may be seeking to come to life can be enlightening. This requires attention, acceptance and self-compassion. As one client recently said, “ Many parts of me have been dormant for a long time.” Working to bring the unconsciousness into the light creates improved health and vibrancy for you. This is the journey of becoming truly whole.
It is true that sometimes things feel worse before they feel better. This is normal and I strive to create a safe and nurturing space and therapeutic relationship where you can rest and also feel the the invigoration of confidence, calm, and strength return. By using cognitive behavioral therapy methods, I will help guide to you a healthier mind and lifestyle.
Actively listening to what you say and to what is coming up for you, through the various therapeutic tools I use, guides your experience along with learning new skills and gaining perspective for your improved resilience and success.
These tools include, but are not limited to, Brainspotting, Mindfulness/Meditation, Art Therapy (Mastering the Meaning of Mandalas), GIM (Guided Imagery with classical music), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping).
